Your Boulder, My Choice

I am not, and have never been, a good man

For I have killed, tricked, and hurt many of them

So if it is a hero, a man of virtue, you seek

That will be right next door, yet another Greek

However, if a tale of absurdity will be just fine

Then come on in, friend, we shall have some wine

Loving life isn’t uncalled for

But to go as far as I have to stay alive

To cheat death twice to live another life

That might just be why

I keep rolling that boulder up and down

And I’ll never stop

Maybe out of spite, maybe because I like

The feeling of the wind

As it cuts through my skin

And burns my lungs

There is no minty air here

No flowers to smell

Not one hand to hold

Yet I stay right there

Your gods know what I mean

When I say I’ll never leave

Because even without

The honey voice of my wife

I can still hear her

And if all it takes for me

To forever reminisce her laugh

Is to push your boulder

Up this hill of yours

Then I’ll do it

So watch me

You have heard from the man

who will never be free

But remember that he is at peace

with what he was made to be
