He kept on treading towards the colossal iron door covered with ivy. He passed by a withered pine tree with a raspy-sounding bird in it that had perched on one of its twigs. Having commenced feeling the trepidation accumulate within, he accelerated his steps and made it to the stairs he had spotted rather swiftly. He solely desired to scuttle promptly into the house without experiencing any petulance cropping up; that was all. Whilst ascending the stairs, nevertheless, he began feeling the expeditious numbness down his leg. Though he did not really want to, as he was able to fathom what had sparked the instantaneous jinx, he tentatively diverted his deteriorating vision onto the cause of the hindrance.

“You?”, he said, almost annoyed, with a loud voice that would not have been anticipated as he had chucked down rather rapidly and his eyelids had closed almost completely, “My life seems to have been a lie after all; if only I’d believed him…”

“It’s too late, Diluc” blurted the squawking voice as Diluc plunged into utter darkness, irreversible, “Good night, though…”.
