Have you ever come across someone who doesn’t like listening to music? I have never. Yes, we all have different tastes in it, and there are many different genres, but there is something for everyone.

Have you ever felt happy when you saw someone else listening to a song that you also like? Perhaps even started a conversation out of it? I have. Why do we enjoy it when other people like the things we do?

Have you ever had the urge to talk to someone after you finished a book or a movie because the excitement and the events overfilled you, and you needed to overflow? Maybe that’s the answer to the previous question. As humans, interacting and socializing are a need for us. Well, at least for most of us. Feelings such as happiness and excitement burgeon as we share them, yet sadness or fear reduces. Therefore talking to someone can be therapeutic. And talking to someone about common interests can especially be fun.

As the year is coming to an end, one of the largest music platforms has released lists of the most listened songs and artists of the users, and people are constantly sharing theirs on social media. While some people are just bored of seeing them, I, personally, have been waiting excitedly for it to be released for weeks and I am reading every single person's choices.

Even though we know what we have listened to, why do we like seeing it in a list? Why does it satisfy us? “Yes, this really is your favorite artist. Even though you have spent thousands of minutes with them this year, it has just become official with this data.”

Thousands of minutes indeed. Music accompanies us throughout our lives. From way before in history up until now. When a baby is born, it’s raised with lullabies, birthdays are celebrated by singing special songs. Some songs remind us of certain memories, so basically we are creating our own life soundtrack albums.

Have you ever seen a movie without any music or backing tracks? I don’t think so. But you may have seen musicals where the whole story is told through songs. If your life was a movie, what would be the theme song to it?
