Studies have demonstrated that mental illnesses among teenagers have been increasing over the years. Mental health disorders’ prevalence among adolescents rose considerably based upon two surveys made in 2005 and 2015. Yet, such notable increase in the incidence of minors grappling with such issues, when they are supposed to live their lives to the fullest, cannot be overlooked and should be regarded as a grave matter.

A majority of adolescents now suffer from sleep deprivation or too much sleep, self-harm; and are prone to have addictions. Moreover, isolating themselves from society, having self-esteem deficiency etc. are prevalent as well amongst those teenagers. Anxiety, depression, eating disorders, panic attack etc. are illnesses pretty common amongst adolescents. On the report of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIH), an agency in USA conducted and supported medical research, roughly %32 of teens had some kind of anxiety. Evidently, that ratio is fairly frightening. In spite of the fact that it is being perceived as you are wholly healthy provided that you are on the condition of having fully wellness physically, it is not true. In contrast to that misconception, mental well-being is as crucial as physical health. Thusly, it ought to be contemplated as a significant issue.

By all means, there are plenty of reasons lay behind why minors deal with such issues. To begin with, several research findings suggested that young people who were in suffer from mental health issues were more likely to use social media when compared to the healthy ones. It is no surprise, though, since social network presents quite another world for the users. To put it another way, it creates an artificial universe where people can fake anything. It is pretty deceiving. There are abundant of people showing off either their “so marvelous lives” or their “so flawless” beauty when in fact it is not. Hence, were to a teenager see those standards of lives despite being specious, they might feel insufficient, unworthy, and even insecure about their looks. Subsequently, their self-esteem, self-love would diminish. Seeing those extreme superb slim bodies, diet lists might drag them into eating disorders. Therefore, lessening their time of spending hours on scrolling up in social media would be an efficient solution. Furthermore, it may be hard to notice when there are hitches at times. For instance, parents, unfortunately, in general, do not even discern what their children go through with their life, what sort of hitches they try to come through on their own. Nonetheless, it is not always their fault since children may not always expose their emotions and thoughts, they may have lots of things to conceal. Notwithstanding that is the occasion, parents have a notable effect on their children’s well-being, as far as I am concerned. Therefore, they had better pay more attention to their children, observe their behaviors closer. Additionally, another motive which leads teens to mental disorders is stress, I believe. That anxiety may be due to future apprehensions, or they may get overly stressed over their grades in school etc. Besides, bullying amongst students is pretty common, peers judge each other relentlessly without any hesitation. Hence, school guidance services and teachers ought to be more wary of those circumstances, pay attention to the relationships among students, and should they see and signs of those occasions, they should interfere at once.

To conclude, incidences of mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, panic attack etc. among adolescents have been in increment through recent years. Though, it is not a coincidence why a majority of teenagers has been grappling with such issues nowadays. There are lots of reasons lay behind. Therefore, some actions should be taken so as to make them live the life they deserve, healthy and joyful.
