“To our brightest lights...”

“The things what they’ve done all by themselves...

What they’ve gone through

What they’ve dealt with

What they’ve heard and seen

What they’ve lost and won

All these things made me look at them proudly, not ashamedly …

One of them is a daughter

A wife, a mother

Maybe a sister or a lover.

And despite everything,

If they didn’t stay strong,

If they didn’t smile,

We all know what would happen.

If they weren’t a part of this life,

We all know how brutally we would be beaten.

I wish the violence would be erased from our memories and from history.

I wish they would make people know what they have got inside, which is hidden but also special

I wish they would laugh against the tears they shed.

I wish they would break the silence, for their words have to be said!

I wish they would brighten the shadows on their existence which has to be seen.

I wish they would want to sing not to scream.

I wish they would show the whole world their colorful souls, which are stuck in a fading grey scene.

I wish they would fight in order not to be fallen down.

I wish they would believe that I know how incredible they are

No matter

Where or when they were born

What color their skin is

How they look

What kind of a lifestyle they chose

What kinds of decisions they made

What kinds of desires they have

What they believe,

What they care,

Or what people say to them, cause you know people say a lot of things

I know

That they have their own life paths

And thoughts in their minds to pass these sharp bends

I know Their confusions inside The judgments outside

-şevval

If only they would know

That I’d like to listen to their sweetest voices more loudly

On stages, I’d like them to be seen more frequently

I’d like them to achieve more

I’d like them to share their talents, decisions, ideas, and opinions more

I’d like them to know

That there is a huge madness in this world.

The world is in desperate need.

And it is waiting to get better, to be changed

Whenever I hear a word said by a woman,

About politics, economy, science, art,

About social or environmental issues,

About people, about accomplishments

About dreams

It makes me take a deep breath

It makes me write more

Search more

Try to see and ask more

It feeds my hope.

For each woman who takes steps on her own,

Who makes her voice heard You are the brightest lights for our future And I would like to see our lights everywhere

Everywhere and forever...
