Happy New Year to everyone! We are about to begin a new chapter in our life, 2021. After a challenging and rough year, I wish you all health, peace and happiness. Here are 10 movies that you can watch with your family on New Year’s Eve. I was forgetting these movies are not about New Year. I didn’t want to write down classic Christmas movies so I chose 10 movies that gave me a new perspective. Sometimes all we need to do is to have a look at the World, people and ourselves. Please enjoy your last days of 2020 and may the odds be ever in your favour this new year.

1. The Theory of Everything

‘The Theory of Everything’ is a biographical romantic drama movie, which is based on Stephen Hawking’s life. You may be wondering why I chose a biographical movie. First of all, cinematography and acting are ten out of ten. Second of all Hawking’s dedication to his passion, science, is pretty remarkable. There will be various obstacles in our way, the most important part is how we deal with them. You can just give up or get out of your comfort zone and go after your dreams. If Stephen threw in the towel, many of his theories would be unspoken and his contributions to science would be incomplete.

2. The Imitation Game- Enigma

‘The Imitation Game- Enigma’ is a historical drama movie, it is also based on a biography of Alan Turing, British mathematician and cryptanalyst. We see the backstage of Second World War and story of young scientist trying to analyse the Enigma machine. Great mathematicians around the country were chosen to decrypt the German intelligence messages, all of them were trying to do it themselves, except Turing. His mind was full of ideas and he was the only one who came up with the idea of a machine that decrypts the codes for them. Reaction to his idea was quite discouraging and he was told to desist from designing his machine. Despite disapproval of his colleagues, he worked day and night to achieve his goal. The belief in himself and also math made his dream come true. Never stop believing in yourself and chase your dreams but no one says that it is going to be easy for you.

3. Pleasantville

'Pleasantville' is a fantasy comedy-drama movie about lives coloured with changes. This movie tells us the story of two siblings who found themselves in Pleasantville, where everyone is blissful and everything happens as it is supposed to be. Pleasantville may seem like a dream but without newness, it is a really boring and predicted dream. Eventually they realised that the World and also people started to coloured up with every experience, this was the most unexpected thing in their life. This movie gives us lots of messages and wants to make us aware of reforms and how people reacted to them. The message I like the most is to be bold and let yourself feel your emotions. Your life will be pointless unless there are changes.
